A WHEEL-Y FUN RIDE

If you've been going around in CIRCLES trying to find a vehicle that stands out from the crowd, the Dutch-built Wheelsurf might just RING your bell.

The motorised monocycle is a WHEEL-y great way to get around as it places you right inside a single, oversized wheel as you zip along at speeds of up to 25 MPH.

Powered by a 31cc, four-stroke 1 1/2-hp engine, all you have to do to steer is shift your weight from one side and then to the other.

And the LOOP-y vehicle is eco-friendly too as it can travel up to two hours on less than a 1/2-gallon of fuel.

The quirky transport consists of an inner and an outer frame, with the inner frame connected to the outer by three small wheels. The outer frame is the actual rotating wheel and has a solid rubber tire, while the rider sits inside the inner frame that also contains the engine, drive train and petrol tank. Confused yet?

Although it has a hand brake, braking is limited to the counterbalance you can provide by leaning backwards. If you brake too hard, you will start spinning with the outer wheel, which the firm describe as being "exciting".

Unfortunately, you won't be able to turn up at work on your new Wheelsurf as it is currently not allowed on public roads in most countries.

But cycling a-ROUND your local park is allowed and will drive jealous owners of ordinary bikes around the TWIST.

A company spokeman said: "The wheelsurf is a vehicle for fun. Just like a jetski. It is not meant as a means of transportation. Riding a Wheelsurf is pure adrenaline! You are bound to attract attention."

The Wheelsurf can be ordered from www.wheelsurf.nl for EUR 4,990 (£3,930, US$7,790).
