Hollywood legend Zsa Zsa Gabor has declined further surgery and returned home to live out the remainder of her days, having been given the last rites at a Los Angeles hospital.

The 93-year-old actress, whose career has spanned over five decades, is now in the care of her ninth - and surely last - husband, socialite Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, with whom she celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary a week ago.

Doctors wanted to operate on her liver to give her a 50-50 chance of survival, but Gabor said she wanted to spend her final days at home.

The former beauty queen, famed for her string of wealthy husbands, spent last month in hospital for hip replacement surgery after falling out of bed in July, then suffered two blood clots from the operation.
