Princess Anne will celebrate her 60th birthday on 15 August but still continues to live up her ‘hardest working royal’ title. The only daughter of the Queen and Prince Philip is known for her charitable work and is patron of over 200 organisations. Meanwhile, she carries out the most engagements of any member of the Royal Family. She is also known for her equestrian talents, which have been inherited by daughter Zara Phillips, and is the only British Royal to have competed in the Olympic Games. The Princess Royal, who also has a son, Peter Phillips, famously avoided a kidnap attempt in 1974 – the closest in modern times any individual has come close to kidnapping a British royal.
