Traditionally, ‘Mothering Sunday’ was a day on which people made a point of visiting their nearest big church (the Mother Church).
It was also usually a day when those 'in service', as maids or servants, were given the day off in order to visit their family.
Today, it has evolved into a day when children pay respect to their mothers, sending cards and present in thanks. So, just how will you choose to spoil your mum this year?
