Michael Jackson constructed his Neverland Valley Ranch in 1988, his home and private theme park named after the fantasy world inhabited by the fictitious character with whom he most identified: Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up.
Situated in California's Santa Barbara County, covering over 2,800 acres and surrounded by vineyards, Jackson filled its central grounds with a zoo, Ferris wheel, merry-go-round and other rides to reflect his own mindset - that of the innocent child.
Due to Jackson's $24.5m loan default on the property, the singer had to transfer the deeds to another company, but he at his death still owned an unknown stake in the property.
