But since that TV debut, comedian Lenny Henry has gone on to become a British broadcasting legend.
As he approaches fifty this month (29 August) Dawn French’s other half remains a firm favourite in the hearts of the nation.
He became a kid’s favourite on 70s/80s kids show Tiswas, appeared on popular sketch show Three of a Kind, and by 1984 had his own long-running self-titled BBC comedy series.
Still a much-loved touring comedian and television personality, we wish Lenny the best on his half-century.
