In the Eighties, Duran Duran reigned supreme as purveyors of New Romantic pomp rock – and as a heartthrob, Simon Le Bon was the ultimate lead singer.
The band became megastars around the world thanks to hits such as Rio, Girls On Film, Save A Prayer.
Their blend of catchy songs and glamourous videos ensured they were the number one pin-ups for teenage girls – although Simon would break a thousand hearts when he married stunning model Yasmin Parvaneh.
Duran Duran still periodically release albums and tour the world – but with the half century approaching (on 27 October), Le Bon has definitely turned from wild boy to man.
