With over 20 teenagers having been stabbed to death this year in London alone, calls for the government to do something about knife crime are increasing. With reports of someone being attacked with a knife or another grieving family holding a funeral for their murdered love one seemingly becoming ever more common, pressure is mounting to tackle the issue. In response to the recent wave of knife related incidents, the Government has issued an edict to police forces to get tough. Meanwhile, initiatives like Operation Blunt have been launched in a bid to prevent and educate people over knife crime. Recent figures suggest the scheme is proving successful, with a total of 528 knives being recovered as a result of 26,777 searches.
