Signed at the tender age of 16, she topped the UK charts for four weeks with her début song "Wuthering Heights" - becoming the first woman to have a UK number one with a self-written song. Since then she has released eight albums and had five UK top ten hit singles. She won a BRIT Award for Best British Female Solo Artist in 1987 and an Ivor Novello in 2002.
