A spin-off from the hit sitcom 'Man About The House', 'George and Mildred' ran for five series from 1976 to 1979 and followed the eponymous ill-matched couple (Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce) leaving their flat of the original series and moving to a modern, upmarket housing estate, much to the horror of their snobbish neighbour Jeffrey Fourmile (Norman Eshley), an estate agent who despairs that the Ropers' presence will devalue his home.
As with many sitcoms of the day, it inspired a spin-off film which was dedicated to Joyce after she tragically died just before the cast was due to start recording a sixth series.
