IS WELSH COLLIE EBBY THE 'WORLD'S OLDEST DOG'?

A Border Collie from Wales is thought to be the oldest dog in the world after reaching the grand old age of 22.

And despite being the equivalent of 155 in dog years Ebby is still going strong.

The Guinness Book of Records has confirmed that if Ebby's vet's paperwork checks out she will officially be named the world's oldest dog.

The Collie is owned by retired stonemason Paul Jones, 58, who adopted her as a puppy in 1987.

The young Ebby, who was a stray, ran into Mr Jones' shop in Swansea.

However, when he tried to take her to a local dog's home she made so much noise that he ended up taking her home with him.

At the time he paid a visit to the local vet to have Ebby checked over and was told that she was already between nine-to-12-months old.

These vet's records still exist, proving that Ebby really is the grand old dame Mr Jones says she is.

He believes that Ebby's long life is all thanks to plenty of exercise, lots of TLC and a daily cod liver oil tablet.

Her advancing years mean that Ebby's sight and hearing are starting to fail, but, according to Mr Jones, she still has a glossy coat and a tail quick to wag.

Currently the title of World's oldest dog is held by Otto, a 20-year-old Daschund from Shrewsbury.
