THE LATEST STREET CRAZE - A POGO STICK ON STEROIDS

Get ready to jump around because the latest craze to hit the streets is a futuristic POGO STICK!

But the Flybar is not your grandad's rusty old spring-powered jumping stick, instead it's the latest in adrenaline sports developed by a world champion skateboarder.

And sceptics who think that pogo sticks are relics from a bygone age will be amazed when they see these amazing pictures.

Built from aircraft-grade aluminium to support the weight, strength and demands of a world-class athlete, riders have to don helmets as they bounce up to EIGHT FEET into the air and perform mind-bending feats of aerobatics.

And a ride on a Flybar, which can only be described as a pogo stick on steroids, is not just an exciting experience, it also gives you an intense full-body workout. It truly is the ultimate way to catch some big air from a standing position.

The Flybar is controlled by the handle bars and foot pedals powered solely by the rider's leg strength and body weight. And the experience of bouncing so freely has been described as being similar to being on a trampoline.

This trendy hip hopper will appeal to fans of trick-based adrenaline sports such as BMX, inline skating and snowboarding. But this is no surprise as the Flybar is the brainchild of Andy Macdonald, eight-time World Cup Champion skateboarder, who teamed up with SBI Enterprises in order to realise his dream of the ultimate pogo stick.

Andy had always had a passion for high-flying fun since his first boyhood bounces on a pogo, but found in adulthood that there simply wasn't a product on the market that would meet his performance demands.

The result was a one-of-a-kind patented spring system developed by MIT-trained physicist Bruce Middleton. And although the pogo stick has been around since 1918, the Flybar bounces straight into the 21st century with a sophisticated 'elastomeric' system. The steel spring of the traditional pogo stick has been replaced with a super-bouncy rubber alternative comprising 12 independent rubber thrusters.

The Flybar can be bought online from around $200, and there are plans to introduce smaller models for different skill levels and children.

So, if you want to be the hippest hopper on your block, isn't it time to get your skates off and jump to it.
